family vacation: cabo san lucas 2014

Since we were little, my sisters and I looked forward to our annual family vacation where we could chill, hang with each other and eat everything all day and all night. This year the location was set in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and it was one of the best yet. With all of us spread across the country, this year was especially important as getting together isn’t as easy as it used to be. It was also +1 as my sister’s husband joined us for the first time. Our week-long trip included naps on the beach, pool time, mescal tasting and a sailboat sunset cruise. In a word, it was…

    Father’s Day Cards

When I was younger, my dad was the disciplinarian. He was the one that made sure we knew it was not OK to be up past bedtime. The one that made sure we knew how valuable education was, or we would be doing rounds at the hospital during summer break. As I get older and older, I’ve realized how intelligent, dedicated and loving my dad really is. Now he’s one I turn to for advice, and he surprises me every time as I find myself thinking about what he says. Weird how that happens, huh? So with Father’s Day being this Sunday, I thought I’d  share some fun father’s day…

    family matters

When I was younger there was a time I couldn’t wait to be as far away from my family as possible. Today that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Being away from family is one of the hardest things about moving to another city (let alone another state or even another country). It’s tough. It pulls at your heart-strings. For a close family as mine is, it’s overwhelming. My parents came to see me for the first time since moving to San Francisco and I was beyond excited to see them. Days before I was planning what sights to show them, what food spots they had to try (horchata ice…

    sister night

There is one thing that is constant on Monday night, and don’t you even say Monday Night Football. For me it’s sister night and tonight will be my last one living here in Dallas before I’m off to San Francisco. Sister night was developed (look at me all sounding patent-pending, trademark-like) by my 2 younger sisters and I when we realized it was stupid to be in the same city and not see each other every week. So we made a deal to pick a day that worked for all of our after-work schedules and get together sans-husbands, friends, boyfriends, etc. Our plan was great on paper: we would get the…

    thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving 2012 has come and gone. Another year of sweet potato casserole, turkey, ham and pumpkin pie arrived in full force in a leave no prisoners kind of way. This year was especially important for me personally. With so many life changers, I am grateful for the opportunity to be in the creative space, my friends and family and my supportive husband. I give thanks for all the blessings this year and look forward to the blessings of the year to come. Here are some pictures from our Thanksgiving at home. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

christmas has come and gone, only happiness remains

First of all, Merry Christmas!! Last night was our Christmas Eve, the day we do everything. No Christmas Day in this house, everything happens on the 24th. We had dinner, midnight mass, presents until 4am and talked until 6am. Yep, it was a good night 🙂 On Christmas Day, I couldn’t be happier. I’m with the people who matter the most in my life. The people who I want to share all my important life events with. I’m one lucky chica. I can’t help but think about how comfortable I am here, at my parents house. There is no stress, lots of laughter, drama (it’s a necessity here) and just…

    mya

Mya 🙂 It just now occurred to me that I haven’t written a post about my little doggie yet. Well let me tell you, she’s my little furry love ball. I really did get lucky with this adorable beagle. I bought her at a pet store before I really knew about all this puppy mill disaster. She was calm and feel asleep in my arms. “Oh she’s going to be so calm” is what I said to myself. Turns out she was just tired…When I brought her home my sisters, mom and I sat in a circle and tried to name her. My sister suggested Lacy and looking back that…
