my trips: huatulco
Last week was our annual family vacation where we just eat, sleep and enjoy one of the beautiful beaches in Mexico (we tried Jamaica once and the experience just didn’t compare). This year our destination lead us to Huatulco for the second time and it was just heaven. The forecast called for rain and thunderstorms the entire week we were going to be there and only ended up raining once, in the evening. Take that weatherman!
Aside from the beautiful beach and ocean, we stayed at the Dreams Huatulco hotel and the infinity pool overlooking the ocean was all I needed. The rooms were comfy and they even hooked us up with a private patio jacuzzi (oh we fancy).
We took a trip to the little town for some shopping, did white water rafting (we did a level 2 and it was a little too calm for me, I’m ready for level 3!) and saw the 7 bays.
I think it’s safe to say our favorite tour was with Pilo to see the 7 bays in a private boat for just us. Seriously guys, if you are planning on taking a trip to Huatulco, book a tour with this guy. He’s awesome and for $50/pp he’ll take you to the 7 bays to snorkel and even go fishing- Justin caught a fish and it was served up for dinner that night!). It was really the highlight of our vacation.
We also saw dolphins swimming around and some sea turtles enjoying, um, humping season? Let’s just say those turtles were getting busy in the middle of the ocean. As Marvin Gaye would say: “let’s get it on…”
To end the vacation, we celebrated my moms birthday with a surprise cake, candles on the beach (it should’ve spelled “Feliz Cumple” which is “Happy Birthday” in Spanish but the candles proved to be a bit tough for the staff to get exactly right) and chinese lanterns! We each made a wish and saw them float up to the sky. It was amazing and an experience I’ll never forget.
I came back sunburnt (and now peeling), relaxed and happy. Thank you family for such a great vacation!
