now THAT’S a cool feeling

I remember back in high school (hell it might’ve been earlier than that), my favorite radio station, 104 KRBE would have a segment called “cool feelings” with Psycho Robby. I looked it up and its actually from 1994. Wow I feel old now…

It had little everyday things that would happen during the day that would evoke a feeling. An example would be:

“when you put on your winter coat for the first time and find a $20 bill in your pocket that you had forgotten about. That’s a cool feeling.”

Remember that? I used to love those. I even remember what he sounds like to this day, with his voice going higher when he emphasises the word “that’s”.

So it got me thinking about cool feelings that happen everyday that evoke those emotions without even knowing it. For me, it’s finding a great song. Now I don’t know about you, but when I discover a great song, I can’t stop listening to it. I listen to it ALL day and ALL night. In the car I blast it to the point where my speakers hold on for dear life. I listen to it in the house, on my computer, at work, anywhere I can. I also listen to it for several weeks at a time until I get sick of it. Justin loves it when I do that.

Another cool feeling is the feeling of gratitude. In my career coaching sessions, I’m asked every week what I’m grateful for. I’m grateful for my husband for loving me, my family for keeping me laughing and my writing for keeping me creative.

Now THAT’s a cool feeling 🙂
